Dear Friends of the Silicon Photovoltaic community,
The successful first edition of SiliconPV in Freiburg makes all of us long for more. It is therefore my great pleasure to invite you to SiliconPV on April 3-5, 2012 in Leuven, Belgium. Given the accelerated introduction of new technologies and materials in the domain of crystalline Si solar cells and modules, the conference topics will focus on these topics again. Efficiency increase at ever lower costs is the driving force behind these frantic developments where the increasing size of the companies enables a faster transition from the Lab to the Fab.
This accelerated introduction of advanced and novel process technologies and materials does require a good understanding of the underlying physics, the interaction between material characteristics and cell&module performance, upscalibility and effects on reliability. More than ever, a forum like SiliconPV with its strong focus on the underlying science and its organisational format allowing a lot of interaction between scientists and developers, is an event not to be missed.
So allow yourself three days fully dedicated to scientific and technological presentations and discussions with your colleagues. The scientific committee and I will not only try to set up a high-class program but also give you the chance to enjoy a stimulating atmosphere. This is why the lunches, welcome reception and conference dinner are all included in the registration fee. Additionally the City of Leuven where tradition and high-tech flow together is really a wonderful environment for such an event.
